Manisha Nanda, Principal Secretary Tourism, Himachal Pradesh said that through the scheme, the state tourism department is popularising Rural Tourism in the state. A total 176 houses across the state were registered under the scheme. Nanda also asked officials to conduct regular inspections of hotels keeping in view winter rush of visitors. <br><br>Arun Sharma, Director Tourism, Himachal Pradesh said that the state has received Rs 166 crore from the Centre for developing tourism circuit and destination development scheme during last seven years. | Indian Railways revenue earnings up by 8.74 per cent during April─ November 2009 Posted: According to a PIB release, the total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during April 1, 2009– November 30, 2009 were Rs 55586.69 crore compared to Rs 51117.55 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 8.74 per cent. <br><br>The total passenger revenue earnings during first eight months of the financial year 2009─10 were Rs 15597.44 crore compared to Rs 14440.92 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 8.01 per cent. <br><br>The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs 34394.97 crore during April 1, 2008 –November 30, 2008 to Rs 37337.46 crore during April 1, 2009–November 30, 2009, an increase of 8.56 per cent. <br><br>The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 1501.62 crore during April─November 2009 compared to Rs 1297.69 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 15.71 per cent. <br><br>The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April─November 2009 were 4937.73 million compared to 4717.56 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 4.67 per cent. | Air India proposes ten per cent cut in wages of about 150 expatriate pilots Posted: According to a PTI report, under pressure from its pilot unions, Air India is understood to have proposed a ten per cent cut in the salaries of about 150 expatriate pilots. A source familiar with the development said that this decision is being mulled on as the pilot unions have demanded equal pay package than that of the foreign pilots. In addition, the management is also considering slashing bonuses of foreign pilots by 50 per cent and stopping reimbursement of their travelling allowances. <br><br>Currently, there are around 810 expatriate pilots employed by five airlines──Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, IndiGo and SpiceJet. Air India alone has around 153 pilots, besides 1,253 Indian pilots and about 200 trainees. A major demand of the Indian pilots unions like Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA) and Indian Pilots Guild, who had recently gone on agitation, has been to curtail the packages offered to the expatriate pilots as a cost─cutting measure and ensure equality in Indian and foreign pilots' pays and allowances. | Qatar Airways launches flights between Doha and Melbourne Posted: Qatar Airways has launched flights between Doha and Melbourne.
