Among the proposals are a National Security Council to provide a more joined up response to the threats the country is facing, as well as more emphasis on preventing conflicts as opposed to intervening in them. We'll be speaking to their National Security Advisor Baroness Pauline Neville-Jones. Whatever the outcome of the general election it seems university funding will be in the firing line. Last month the Business Secretary Lord Mandelson announced that funding for universities in England would be cut by £398 million in 2010-11 and the Conservatives have indicated they might not be able to reverse that cut. We'll be speaking to a representative from the Russell Group of Elite Universities. On Wednesday's programme, UKIP's Nigel Farage set the cat amongst the pigeons by suggesting fellow MEP Nikki Sinclaire lied to the party to get selected. Here at the Daily Politics fairness is our middle name so we've invited Nikki to come onto the show to give her side of the story. We'll also ask he about the party's prospects in the forthcoming general election. And of course Giles will be here with the weekly run down top of the political stories.
